1 cup (120 g) flour
1 cup (110 g) cornflour (cornstarch)
120 g butter at room temperature
½ cup (100g ) sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
½ cup (100 g) raw sugar
¼ cup almonds, peeled and chopped
Sift together flour, conrnflour (cornstarch) and baking powder.
In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
Add the eggs one by one, beating well after each addition.
Fold in the sifted dry ingredients and form a ball with the dough.
Chill for 30 minutes.
Roll out the dough over a floured surface to a half centimetre thick oblong.
Cut small circles with a floured cutter.
Place them on an ungreased baking sheet.
Sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and almonds.
Bake in a moderate oven for about 12 minutes or until they are ready
