1 can (300ml) condensed milk
2 cans (600 ml) milk, measured in the empty can of the condensed milk
vanilla essence to taste
syrup stage caramel, to line pudding basin or tin
Place condensed milk inside a mixing bowl.
Pour warm milk in a thin stream and mix with electric mixer.
Fold in slightly beaten eggs and stir in vanilla essence.
Pour mixture into a pudding basin or ovenproof dish lined with caramel and bake in a moderate oven, over another tin with 2 to 3 cm of boiling water for about 1 hour.
Cool completely before turning out.
